County Household Hazardous Waste Drop Off

Residents may dispose of household hazardous waste at the monthly Elkhart County hazardous waste drop off held on the first Saturdays of every month at the Elkhart County Correctional Facility near the intersection of County Road 7 and County Road 26.  Enter off of County Road 7.  Hours are 8:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.

Fall Leaf Pick Up

The Public Works Department picks up loose leaves that are raked near the street in the Fall only. There is no designated team for leaf pick-up. Weather, equipment availability, and emergencies may interfere with leaf pick up. Typically leaf pick up starts around October 15.
Middlebury Leaf Collection Tips
Please follow these tips to help leaf collection go smoothly.
Leaf Piles

  • Place only leaves in the leaf piles. Other forms of yard waste such as rocks, pieces of cement, tree branches, walnuts, etc. slow the collection process and damage the Town's equipment.
  • Leaf piles should be placed as close to the curb as possible (without obstructing traffic). Town vehicles cannot leave the street, so if the equipment can't reach the leaves, the leaves will need to be moved closer to the curb.
  • Property owners without cubs may pile their leaves as close to the street as possible, but the leaves should never be placed in the street.
  • Leaves should not be piled behind parked vehicles, on sidewalks, near storm drains, or around telephone poles, sign posts, or mailboxes.

Grass, Leaves and Brush Disposal
Hours are Year Round 6:15 AM - 6:00 PM

The Town offers a site for residents to dispose of household grass, leaves and brush at our Public Works facility located at 125 York Drive.  Commercial disposal is prohibited at this facility.

Please follow these guidelines when disposing of your grass, leaves and brush:
  • Grass and Leaves Disposal Area is for lawn grasses, ornamental grasses, flowers, garden refuse and leaves.
  • Brush Disposal Area is for tree limbs, tree trunks, stumps, and woody bushes.
  • Please use the Gravel Drive for disposing of your material in the proper location.
  • Do not dispose of your materials in the Drainage Ditches.
  • Disposal of household trash and building materials (lumber, landscape timbers, railroad ties, concrete, etc.) is prohibited.
  • Commercial disposal of any materials is prohibited.
Your cooperation in following these guidelines is vital to the success of this program and is greatly appreciated by the Town.
