Town Hall is located at 418 North Main Street. Our hours are Monday thru Friday from 8:00am - 4:30pm. We are closed for the following holidays: New Year's Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. To contact Town Hall, please call 574-825-1499.
Your address! If you have a 3 or 4 digit street address (example: 123 Main Lane or 1234 Main Lane), you are within town limits. If you have a 5 digit address (example: 12345 Main Lane), you are located in the county.
In order to transfer services, the Town of Middlebury needs to know the address, the move in date, your name, and your driver's license number. You can provide all this information to us over the phone or stop by in person at Town Hall located at 418 North Main Street.
Yes. In order to transfer the previous home water/sewer services into your name, there is a $25.00 one-time fee. This will be included on your first water/sewer bill. There is no need to pay this separate.
To remove your name off a water/sewer service, please contact us to let us know your current address and move-out date. You can provide this information over the phone or stop by in person at Town Hall located at 418 North Main Street.
Yes. If you would like to have your water shut off at the curb due to leaving the home for an extended period of time to not receive a minimum usage bill, please contact us.
You may pay your water and sewer bill online here, in person during business hours at any First State Bank location, or at Town Hall located at 418 North Main Street. You may come inside to pay at Town Hall during business hours or drop it into the lock box located under the awning on the north side at any time. PAYMENTS MAY NOT BE MADE OVER THE PHONE. WE DO NOT ACCEPT PAYMENT VIA CREDIT/DEBIT CARDS AT TOWN HALL!
Gas and electric services are provided by NIPSCO. You will need to contact them to transfer anything into your name or for any issues you may have with those services.
If you live within the town limits, trash services are provided by the town. The Town of Middlebury is contracted with Borden's Waste Away Group to pick up residential trash every Wednesday.  Trash carts must be out by the curb by 6:00 AM.  The cost for trash service is included in your taxes. If you have a damaged cart, have a missed trash collection, or would like an additional cart, please contact Borden's at 574-293-5001.
If you live within the town limits, once a year in May, the Town has Clean Up Days for residents to bring large household items to the Public Works facility at 125 York Drive for proper disposal.  Commercial disposal is prohibited.  You must provide your ID at the time of drop-off. The following items will not be accepted by the Town:

  • Pesticides, herbicides or insecticides
  • Solvents, paints or oils
  • Tires
  • Refrigerators, air conditioners, or de-humidifiers
The dates for 2024 are May 2nd through May 4th.
The police department is located on the south side and lower level of Town Hall at 418 North Main Street. To get to the police department, please drive down to their parking area and entrance location. If their door is locked, please call the number listed on the door.  Town Hall has NO access to the police department nor can any payments/fees be made with them.
No. Brush or leaf burning within town limits is strictly prohibited. The town provides leaf pick-up in the fall only. There is no set schedule for leaf pick up and you cannot request their services. They are on a route and will do the route as many times as possible weather permitting. The Town offers a site strictly for town residents year round to dispose of household grass, leaves and brush at our Public Works facility located at 125 York Drive. They are open for disposal from 6:15am - 6:00pm.  Commercial disposal is prohibited at this facility.
Please follow these guidelines when disposing of your grass, leaves and brush:
  • Grass and Leaves Disposal Area is for lawn grasses, ornamental grasses, flowers, garden refuse and leaves.
  • Brush Disposal Area is for tree limbs, tree trunks, stumps, and woody bushes.
  • Please use the Gravel Drive for disposing of your material in the proper location.
  • Do not dispose of your materials in the Drainage Ditches.
  • Disposal of household trash and building materials (lumber, landscape timbers, railroad ties, concrete, etc.) is prohibited.
  • Commercial disposal of any materials is prohibited.
 Your cooperation in following these guidelines is vital to the success of this program and is greatly appreciated by the Town.
No. The town does not offer any utility or rental assistance. If you are in need, please contact the Middlebury Township Trustee Office located at 117 North Main Street. Middlebury also has a local food pantry located at 13307 CR 16. Please contact them here.
